Three Science Picture Activities to Try with Your Preschooler

Choose by what your child wants to do

For a child who wants to point and color, try the cloud-size activity. Look at three drawings and choose the biggest cloud. The page shown above is the cloud activity.

For a child who enjoys making pairs, try matching one seed to each pot. Three seed drawings and three pots give you a clear place to start.

For a child who enjoys spotting differences, compare the puddle Before and Later pictures. Talk about the smaller puddle and the stone that stays in place.

Point first; add pencil and crayons when ready

These are picture activities for ages 4–6 with a grown-up. Children do not need to read independently, and you do not need real seeds, soil, or an outdoor puddle. Stop when your child has had enough.
